Janelle StabbWelcome to Room 11!
I am excited to be teaching at Indian Valley as it was my own elementary school! I was born and raised in Walnut Creek, and attended Indian Valley, WCI and Las Lomas. After graduating high school I journeyed to California State University, Sacramento where I studied Child Development and loved every minute of it. When I graduated college I knew that I wanted to be back in the bay area with all my family and friends so I made my way back to Walnut Creek. I knew all my life that teaching was my drive in life, so I enrolled in the California State University, Hayward Teaching Credential Program. There I had hands on experience through student teaching and was so lucky that my second placement was at Indian Valley and I student taught with Betty Maddox.
This is my ninth year back as a teacher at Indian Valley. I am excited to be teaching 3rd grade this year!Cristina MurrayI feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to teach this fabulous group of third graders. This is my fifth year at Indian Valley, and I am so excited to be working in Third Grade with my partner teacher, Janelle Stabb. I started teaching at Indian Valley in 2012 working in Fifth Grade with Erin Carson and Brittany Forrette. Indian Valley is such an amazing school that supports a collaborative learning environment and encourages hands on learning experiences, something that I believe is key in helping students learn. I am looking forward to supporting students in their academic achievements and having fun while doing it!My love of teaching children was established at a very young age when I would constantly play pretend school with my stuffed animals. It was during my time in college when I was given the opportunity to pursue my life long dream of teaching children to be life long learners. In 2008, I graduated from California State University, East Bay with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. Shortly after graduating, I began substitute teaching for the Pleasanton Unified School District, which only solidified my decision to enter the teaching program at CSUEB. During my credentialing program, I had the opportunity to student teach in First and Fifth Grade (both of which I loved). My long term substitute positions in Second and Fourth Grade opened the doors for me to get my own class at Donlon Elementary School in Pleasanton where I taught Kindergarten for 1 year. I have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to teach a variety of grade levels, which has only enhanced my love of teaching and given me exposure to a multitude of learning styles.I am so excited for our year ahead and to create a positive, fun, and engaging learning environment with Janelle.
