    Location
    Walnut Creek Intermediate School (WCI) a California Gold Ribbon School with an Examplary Visual and Performing Arts program is located near the center of the busy northern California City of Walnut Creek. At the crossroads of Contra Costa County, the city of Walnut Creek offers the community proximity to San Francisco as well as the rural pleasure of over 2,500 acres of protected open space. Walnut Creek is a major corporate and retail center.
    Students
    WCI Serves 1,100 students in grades 6, 7, 8, and is the only comprehensive middle school in the Walnut Creek School District which has a total student population of approximately 3500. Students attend school for seven periods each day, with an eighth period offered for Jazz Band. Sixth graders take one period of math, one period of science, and a three-period English and Social Studies core. They are also enrolled in the exploratory wheel or band. Seventh graders are enrolled in a two-period core, one period of Science, Math, and two elective courses. Eighth graders are enrolled in one period of English, Social Studies, Math, Science, and two elective courses. All students are enrolled in one period of physical education.
    Staff Certificated personnel consists of one principal, two assistant principals, one full and one part time counselor and 45 full or part-time teachers. Additional staff include a certificated librarian, four resource specialists, and one special day teacher. We have 20 full and part-time classified employees, including office staff, custodial staff, cafeteria workers and noon-duty supervisors, as well as special education paraprofessionals.
