    Your Board and How it Functions

    Five Walnut Creek citizens are elected to serve overlapping terms.  They are elected at-large by the registered voters within the Walnut Creek School District.  The Board functions as the governing body of the school district and establishes policies by which the school district is operated.  Programs and policies are governed according to laws and regulations as set by the Constitution of the State of California, State Education Code and California Administrative Code, Title 5.  Board members can be contacted via email or mail addressed to them c/o Walnut Creek School District, 960 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.

     

    Board Meetings

    The Board holds regular meetings once to twice a month on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. at the District Office according to the posted schedule. (Walnut Creek School District Office, 960 Ygnacio Valley Road)

     

    Notices of all meetings, both regular and special, are posted at the District Office, 960 Ygnacio Valley Road, in advance of the meetings.  All meetings are open to the public with the exception of “Closed Sessions,” which may be held to discuss confidential personnel matters, matters pertaining to an individual student, labor negotiations and legal matters.  Special meetings are open to the public; however, only business for which the meeting was called can be discussed.

     

    Placing an Item on the Agenda

    Requests for an item to be placed on the agenda shall be in writing and submitted to the Superintendent or designee with supporting documents and information, if any, at least two weeks before the scheduled meeting date.  The Superintendent and Board President determine whether the request is or is not within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board and will determine whether the agenda item is appropriate for discussion in open session or closed session of the Board.
