• Ms. Stewart's Bio

Ms. Stewart graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Genetics and then continued her education at St. Mary's College for her teaching credential.  With a passion for science and education, teaching seemed a natural choice.

Ms. Stewart started her teaching career at Walnut Creek Intermediate School teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science.  After several years of teaching she went back to school and received her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership at California State East Bay.  A few years later she challenged herself to get National Board Certification in Adolescent Science Education.  After 11 years teaching science (I know what you're thinking.  Yes, she started teaching at a very, very young age) she decided to teach 5th grade at Buena Vista.  Her goals and passion in teaching are to infuse a love of learning.  5th grade had allowed her to have 27 students a day, rather than 180 and to explore other subjects she had grown to love. After 8 years teaching 5th grade, she returned to middle school along with some major changes in education. She returned to WCI teaching 6th and 7th grade science once again with a focus on inquiry and project-based learning. With the opportunity of opening a new school in the district, after three years back at WCI, she returned to 5th grade excited to collaborate in creating an amazing, innovative school and classroom. With the advent of growing Tice to include 8th grade, Ms. Stewart is currently teaching 7th and 8th grade science.

Ms. Stewart loves to travel in her time off.  She has traveled to the following places:  Belgium, Holland, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Chech Republic, Greece, Turkey, Thailand, Costa Rica, Belize, Hawaii, Mexico, Honduras, Africa, Ecuador and Galapagos Islands, India and various states in the U.S.  She would love to revisit Thailand and eventually visit  the the Amazon in South America.  Her ultimate goal is to visit all of the world's continents.

Ms. Stewart is a life long learner and recently completed her Doctorate in Education at St. Mary's College of California; Learning is fun, but teaching is her passion.
