I grew up in Woodland, CA and was a Gibson Gator when I was in elementary school. I still remember the song!
I was a double major at CSU Stanislaus, where I was awarded a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Music (voice) and Liberal Studies with a Concentration in Music. I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as well as Introductory Authorizations to teach English and Music, also at CSU Stanislaus.
After finishing my credential, I was a K-12 substitute teacher in the Turlock Unified School District and then in the Mt. Diablo School District once my husband and I made the move to Concord. I enjoyed long term subbing in a fourth grade class for six weeks, a fifth grade class for four months, and a kindergarten class for six weeks.
Most recently I taught fifth grade at Indian Valley Elementary School. I loved going to Environmental Camp and helping my students prepare for big, bad middle school! I also started the Indian Valley Choir which rehearsed after school. I love to incorporate music and the arts in my classroom as often as possible!
