I am a teacher at heart, and I have been teaching in some form my whole life.  I began coaching gymnastics at the young age of 13 when my own competition days were over. I coached gymnastics to kids of all levels, from 3-year-old tiny tots to competitive gymnasts, all the way through my college graduation!

I went to college at Chico State, where I received my degree in Liberal Studies and my teaching credential in 2003.  Right after graduating and student teaching, I took my first teaching placement in a 6th Grade classroom at Citrus Elementary School in Chico, CA. After that, I moved to the Bay Area and was hired to teach 3rd Grade at Sleepy Hollow School in Orinda, CA. The following year, I moved up to 4th Grade and taught that level for the next six years.

After eight years in the elementary school classroom, I decided to explore other interests, but I continued to teach. I got my Yoga 200 Hour RYT certification from the Yoga Alliance through teacher training at YogaWorks in Walnut Creek. I taught yoga classes to the public, in studios and small group settings, for five years. I also taught yoga to specific groups, such as high school athletes of various sports, St. Mary's Men's Basketball, Cal Basketball, and the champion Golden State Warriors for three seasons!

Missing the academic setting, I decided to return to teaching in 2016, and I'm thrilled to be back in the classroom teaching English and supporting students through Academic Support classes. I look forward to an incredible year full of exploration, connections, interaction and hard work!
