I am thrilled to still be teaching in the district and back at Murwood for another fantastic school year. I spent three years teaching fourth grade at Parkmead before joining the Murwood community eleven years ago. I was given such a warm welcome from parents, students, and staff that I knew immediately Murwood would be a great fit for me.  I am really looking forward to having both my boys at Murwood with me. Harrison is entering into first grade and Brayden is in third grade. We are all so excited.
I attended San Diego State for the majority of my undergraduate work. Due to the impacted university and schedule changes I decided to move home to expedite the college process. I finished my course work at CSU Hayward and received my B.A. in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in early childhood education. I enjoyed CSU Hayward so much that I stayed there to earn my Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential. I moved on to Saint Mary's College in order to earn my masters degree in Educational Leadership.
While in San Diego I worked at a 6-to-6 program and did small group and individual intervention work with students in 1st through 5th grades. I had the opportunity to do my student teaching with Janet Kirkpatrick's 1st grade at Murwood Elementary School and Marcia Ashley's 3rd grade at Ayers Elementary School. I also worked as a substitute for the Mt. Diablo Unified School District.
I spent two years as the Union Representative for Murwood teachers, and eight years ago I took on the new role of Union Negotiations, six years as the Lead Negotiator and Negotiations Facilitator. These roles have provided me with a great opportunity to work with other school sites, our Walnut Creek School Board Members, and District Office Personnel, but I am looking forward to my role this year as "just a teacher".  I decided it was time to pass the reigns on to someone else and serve as purely an advisory role this year as needed. Instead I joined the Science committee to pilot new curriculums for our elementary schools. This will also be my seventh year on Murwood's Leadership team. I am looking forward to the new challenges that these positions will bring me.
