• MURWOOD'S ANNUAL SCIENCE FAIR
     science fair
    THURSDAY, MARCH 14TH
6:00-7:30 PM IN THE MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM

There are three ways a student can participate in the Science Fair and all students can come to the science room for help after school.

One way to participate is a STEM challenge for students to complete on their own. The student will collect materials from Mrs. Sicotte and will display the completed product  and the presentation board at the fair on Thursday, March 14th.

If the students are in TK-4th grade, the whole family can participate in the Butterfly Habitat Challenge. Materials will be provided after the permission slip is turned in and approved. The family will complete a presentation board and display the habitat and the board at the fair. Mrs. Sicotte will supply live caterpillars for each child in the family to test the habitat.

If your student has a question that can be completed using the Scientific Method, they can complete their experiment and presentation board in the traditional manner.

    Other projects:

TK through 3rd grade: Simple scientific collection or model, a scientific observation or demonstration, or a problem solving experiment can be worked on.

Grade 4-5: a problem solving experiment or the STEM problem can be worked on.

Free Science Fair display boards, supplied by the Murwood PTA, will be distributed the week of Feb. 19th, if the entry form is signed and turned in. In addition, if you need any materials or supplies, (if I have them) you may check them out from the science lab. We will also be having workshops at lunch or after school to allow students to begin their STEM problem or work on the science project.  Please send a permission slip with your student.

We want the projects to be an enjoyable learning experience for all participants. Give yourself plenty of time to work on the project. It will be interesting and educational if you do a little bit at a time.

If you have any questions, please contact Erin Sicotte, the Murwood Science Specialist at esicotte@walnutcreeksd.org.
