•  Below you will find the district policy for homework:

Principals and teachers will be responsible for seeing that homework assignments are given on a regular basis and for assuring that they are appropriate to the needs and skills of the students. Homework should not be a frustrating experience, nor punishment for the student. Parents/guardians should feel free to contact the school with any questions that arise concerning homework. (For more detail, see Homework Practices below)

Homework will be a meaningful and purposeful outgrowth of classroom instruction, which will be reviewed appropriately by teachers in a timely manner. Assignments may be given four days a week. Average amounts of time required for homework assignments not including reading will be as follows:

Grades K-1 - 0 to 20 minutes, NOT including reading

Grades 2-3 - 15 to 30 minutes, NOT including reading

Grades 4-5 - 30 to 60 minutes, NOT including reading

I ask students to read for 15-20 min. nightly. This can be parents reading to their child, the child reading to their parents or independently. I believe reading with your students is be the most important thing you can do to help your children not only learn to read, but to instill the love of reading! In addition,  I ask students to complete a page of math homework that supports the work we have done in class and to practice their spelling words nightly.  You can refer to the spelling homework menu for different practice ideas.  Occasionally there will be projects assigned throughout the year.
