    Biography:

     

    Mrs. Ong received her teaching credential and Reading Recovery certification from St. Mary's College.  She has been teaching for over ten years (first, second, and fifth grades).  Prior to teaching, Mrs. Ong ended her career with the Federal Transit Administration to raise her two sons,  Kyle and Kevin.  Mrs. Ong has a dog named Skipper and lives in Walnut Creek.   She enjoys reading, art, music, gardening, and Kung-Fu. 

    Teaching Philosophy:
     
    Mrs. Ong believes that everyone has the right to a good education regardless of age, gender, religion, race, disabilities, or economic circumstance.  She thinks that the purpose of an education is to teach students from different backgrounds to be responsible and productive citizens so that they can make a positive difference in their lives and the world.
     
    As a teacher, Mrs. Ong encourages communication, discovery, exploration, and tolerance.   As a facilitator, she teaches students to think independently, fostering individuality in a community setting.  Respect for others, empathy, forgiveness, and kindness are words that communicate her beliefs.
