Birthday Celebration
§ Each student will have a chance to celebrate his or her birthday. Small healthy, treats (fruit, muffins, Nutella, etc.)
Differentiation
§ Differentiated instruction provides multiple approaches to what students learn, how they learn, and how they demonstrate what they've learned. (Teaching Gifted Kids in the Regular Classroom by Susan Winebrenner)

§ Conferences in November with the first trimester assessment report
§ Subsequent reports go home in March and June

§ Assessments include: Weekly quizzes (language mechanics, math and spelling), end of unit tests (reading, grammar, social studies, science), running records, writing prompt (Spring) and State standardized testing (Spring).
Homework
§ Monday through Thursday nights, with reading every dayStudents receive homework sheet on Mondays§ Updated homework assignments and information on Web site§ Helping your child with homework : check in nightly and help them as needed. If you correct a mistake, please note this on the homework so I'll know what they still need help with
§ Children should spend 1 hour on homework; this includes reading for 20 minutes.

Miwok IndiansWednesday Envelopes~Wednesday Envelopes will come home once a week with your child's work inside, timely information, flyers and forms from the school, and sometimes an evaluation. Please review and return any necessary papers the next day.
