• Children are welcome to return and check out books throughout the week. Parents are welcome to check out library materials as well. The number of materials that may be checked out varies by grade level:

Kindergarten: 1 book for 1 week
    1st Grade: 2 books for 1 week

Second Grade: 2 books for 2 weeks

Third, Fourth and Fifth Grades: 3 books for 2 weeks

Reminders are sent to students with overdue books. Students who fail to turn in overdue books may lose borrowing privileges. If a book has been lost, parents should telephone the librarian to work out a plan for replacing the book. Borrowing privileges will usually be resumed at this time.

Payment for most lost or damaged items is as follows: hardback books $20 or the cost of the book, whichever is greater; paperback books $10 or the cost of the book, whichever is greater. Parents should be warned that book costs are increasing and a growing number of nonfiction books in the collection cost between $20-$40. There will be a nominal charge for books that are damaged, but still serviceable. Lost books that are found will be eligible for refunds for 3 months and/or until the book has been replaced.

    Library Etiquette

The library is for student use for reading, study, research and computer projects.

Socializing, playing games and loud voices are not acceptable.

Students should use library sticks and replace all materials where they were found before exiting the library.

Students who fail to display appropriate library etiquette will be asked to leave the library and may lose library privileges for a period of time.
