• Ms. Karen Hitzelberger

     

    This year will be Ms. Hitzelberger's 20th year as a teacher at Buena Vista Elementary school. During this time period, she has taught 3rd and 4th grade.  Ms. Hitzelberger has a B.A. in Art from Kirkland/Hamilton College in New York. She received an M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from Colgate University. With that degree in hand, she moved cross country to Davis, CA where she worked for 7 years at the UC Davis Counseling Center.

    Ms. Hitzelberger took on her most important job, that of a mother, and spent 13 years at home raising her two daughters. Both girls attended BV, WCI and graduated from Las Lomas and UCSB. Her oldest is a lawyer in San Francisco and her youngest a middle school science teacher in Lexington, MA.   

    Ms. Hitzelberger returned to a job outside her home when she received her multiple subject/CLAD emphasis teaching credential from St. Mary's College and was hired at Buena Vista. She loves working with children, inspiring a love of learning and encouraging independent thinking and personal growth.
